Alloy 200 (2.4066): The Top Choice of Pure Nickel for Industry

Alloy 200 (2.4066) is a technically pure nickel with high corrosion resistance and strong mechanical properties. It is ideally suited for the chemical, petrochemical and food industries. It is resistant to alkalis, corrosive media, acids and salt solutions. In addition, it has good thermal conductivity. Its material number is N02200.

    Composition chimique

Alloy 200 features high purity nickel, with nickel content as low as 99.0%. This exceptional level of purity greatly reduces the presence of impurities and enhances its excellent corrosion resistance. Trace elements such as iron, manganese and copper are strictly controlled to ensure consistent top performance in a variety of applications.

    Material Standards for Alloy 200

    • Material Number: 2.4066
    • UNS NON.: N02200
    • ASTM: B160 / B564
    • VACARME: 17740 / 17752

    Comparison with Other Alloys

Alloy 200 (2.4066) stands out among nickel alloys for its superior purity and corrosion resistance. With a nickel content of nearly 99.0%, it outperforms alloys such as Alloy 400, which contains copper for added strength at the expense of some purity. This makes it ideal for high-purity environments such as chemical processing and the food industry. Alloy 400 performs better in seawater, while Alloy 200 excels in resistance to corrosive bases and acids such as hydrochloric and sulfuric acids. It has greater resistance to reducing media and stress corrosion cracking than stainless steels such as 316L, making it the preferred choice for highly corrosive, high-purity environments.

    Future Outlook

The future looks bright for Alloy 200 as industries increasingly seek materials that can resist extreme corrosion. Its high purity and corrosion resistance make it a prominent choice as industries such as chemical processing, petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals continue to expand. Future advances, such as precision casting and surface treatments, will improve its performance and reduce costs, expanding its use in emerging markets. In addition, its potential for sustainable technologies such as hydrogen production and carbon capture make it a key material for innovative applications, ensuring its relevance and demand in the coming decades.
