Outokumpu To Focus On High-end Stainless Steel Applications In India

Finnish stainless steel giant Outokumpu announced that it will mainly focus on developing high-end markets in India.

Outokumpu India Operations Director Mr Rajeev Sherry said that in India, the company will focus on high-end applications, including the growing energy sector, including nuclear, renewable and fossil energy.

Other key products include applications in oil and gas, railways, chemical processing, coastal bridges and desalination plants, where human safety and process efficiency factors which our stainless steel pipes the same play a key role.

He said stainless steel is the fastest growing part of the metal industry and has multiple uses. New applications are constantly being developed to meet more stringent requirements.

In India, the demand for stainless steel is growing because of product awareness and availability of the right grades and sizes. Including high-end industries such as oil and gas, energy and shipping-related industries, railways, ports, infrastructure and automobiles, the demand for this non-corrosive metal is growing, and corrosion is a serious problem.

He added that in addition to supplying specialty steels to high-end industries, Outokumpu will continue to provide competitive cost advantages to industries such as construction, building and construction, food processing, capital goods, railways and pulp and paper.
